To be honest my process is still pretty loose. I’m still new to photography, new to vlogging, new to blogging, new to making music videos, new to social media even. Before Steemit I basically used facebook once a month or so unless I was promoting a band. So this past 6 months ish has been a lot of discovery and experimentation.
Having a sounding board like this one for all of my creative output has been extremely valuable. Not only do I have access to awesomely supportive communities of people in various disciplines who like to think outside the box, there are people here who actually believe in what this platform could be and are working to make it so. This means people are actively looking for good content of all kinds to engage with and support.
I really feel like this platform could eventually be great for content creators/artists to get a fair shake instead of being exploited by corporations or having to pimp themselves out to shill products they don’t believe in. Basically to be allowed to have self respect and still be compensated for their valuable contributions to society such as hodling the mirror up to it’s ugly mug, or creating beauty to soothe said society after it’s seen it’s own ugly mug.
Artists have a very important and oft overlooked role in society and if we are not able to do those things and still have access to life’s necessities then the only “artists” around are the ones getting payed by the wealthy who generally have a huge interest in upholding the status quo instead of making a better world for everyone.
This narrative in itself is really a microcosm of my process because I usually start with an idea, an ideal, or just a framework, and then explore. I like to see where I end up and let the muse guide me. Sometimes I have a clearer idea in mind about where I want to go than other times but I rarely try to control the process. It’s more of a symbiotic relationship. I give it nourishment and freedom and it guides me and entertains me at the same time.
