Bangladesh will fly to Sri Lanka at 1pm on Sunday to participate in the Nidhaus Trophy without T-20 captain Shakib Al Hasan. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 16-member Bangladesh team in the Nidhaus Trophy last week by captaining Shakib Al Hasan as captain. Tigers captain T-20 captain Shakib received a left hand injury in the final of the tri-series Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe on home soil.
BCB officials also spoke on more than once in the press about why the injured Shakib was kept in the squad. On Thursday, BCB operations committee chairman Akram Khan told reporters that Shakib could not play in one of the first two matches of the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka. Yet, he has been included in the team, according to the report of the doctor in his current rehabilitation process, Shakib will play a few matches at the end of the tri-series.
But finally Sankatai came true. World all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will not be in the Nidhas Trophy in Sri Lanka. Instead, the wicketkeeper batsman Liton Das has been called in Bangladesh squad.
Bangladesh is going to organize a tri-series T-series with Bangladesh and India in the 70th anniversary of independence of Sri Lanka. The tri-series, starting on March 6, starts with hosts Sri Lanka and India. Bangladesh's Lanka Mission will start with matches against India on March 8.
