Good evening great steemians, it has been awhile I updated this blog last no thanks to the almost no electric power supply in my area. A cruel incident that occurred in my neighborhood in the early of today forced me to go an extra mile to power my PC to enable me post this content.
At about 2:35am today the 24th day of April 2018, we heard a voice of a woman screaming loudly my child, my child, but everyone kept quiet or rushed to find out what went wrong with her or the child. Due to the fact the a well known hospital is located in our neighborhood, we have gotten used to shouts and cries of people who are either bringing one health emergency problem or people whose relation died in the hospital at night.
Sometimes, our sleeps at night are disrupted by shouts of people whose relation gave birth at night. But the shouts and yelling of the woman in today’s incidence took a new dimension new we heard a sound of a vehicle that just zoomed off from the scene, the woman shouted more and more, but this time she was shouting ‘they have gone away with my baby, my innocent baby’ many people in the neighborhood including myself quickly rushed out know what was happening. According to the woman who was to say the least, highly shocked and confused, she was sleeping peacefully in her apartment located in a newly built house directly opposite my apartment when suddenly she woke up and saw someone pointing a gun to her from outside a window beside her bed.
The first intruder quickly ordered her to surrender her phone to him which she obliged him while the second man outside the window was busy cutting the iron burglary proof fixed on the window.
The lack of public power supply in my area for some months now have made many families to buy a generating set to power up their electronics, theses generator are which most times noisy and the intruders to this woman’s apartment took advantage of the noises from the generators in the building to cut the burglary proofs without waking her immediate neighbors.
After they have cut off the burglary proof fixed on the window from outside, one of the intruders climbed into her room while the second person kept her pinned to her bed with a gun he pointed to her head. As he entered into her room, he simply moved to her baby’s bed which was kept off the window area and carried her 13 months old baby who was he was sleeping peacefully.
Immediately they left her room through the same window, the embattled mother started shouting and ran towards the entrance gate, lo and behold the gate was still securely locked and their security man was confused as he did not understand why she was shouting. Before she could explain and the gate-man open the gate for her, the intruders have zoomed off.
At daybreak this morning, we discovered the intruders scaled through the fence despite the barb wire that was placed on it, the mobile phone of the perplexed mother whose child is missing was also picked over the fence.
For many hours, shouts of cry from the baby’s mother and other sympathizers continued as more and more people within and outside the neighborhood continued to gather.
My mind kept wondering what and why two young men (the intruders) has planned to do with an innocent child who still suckles her mother’s breast. Why must they forcefully wean an innocent child? What is this world turning to? Where lies human conscience? Can this baby make it back home alive? How will the father of the baby accept that his first and only child is missing after he left him and his mother few days ago to his base outside the state? I pray God will save the life of the little boy.
