Ten days ago, I expressed an idea stuck in my head thusly:
P.S. (but no more)
scribed and scribbled, mars the end
of your letter home
Then I asked people to join in with their own variations on this theme. Below are some of the great haikus in response:
my letter home
an unfilled P.S.
our secret code
Like the bitter cold
Of an early winter frost
That destroys all hope
If you do not ask
that I return Home, again
I will write you more.
We were once so bright
Passion to burn the skies, yet
Our flame gutters out
You’ve been gone so long
I have forgotten your face
But never your touch
Do you remember
Our walks on the summer beach
Now my beach is ice
This was such fun that I decided to try it again. So here's a haiku inspired by a peacock at the zoo:
Tail of a peacock
unfurls, fans flat in a flare;
a hundred eyes stare.
For this one, please submit your own haiku on a zoo animal that you find poem-worthy! Leave it in the comments below or make a post and link it. Let's put together a series of haiku verses that will tell the entire story of our day at the zoo. And if you'd like to jump in, come visit us in the #crowdwrite channel at the Isle of Write!
