The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Elon Musk has asked Jackson Palmer, the man behind of Dogecoin (DOGE), to help him battle "annoying" cryptocurrency scammers on Twitter in a tweet that was sent out earlier this week.
Mentioning Palmer in his tweet, Musk tweeted:
" if you can help get rid of the annoying scam spammers, that would be much appreciated."
Palmer replied, urging Musk to reach out to him through direct messages. The creator of Dogecoin vowed to send Musk the script that could potentially resolve the problem:
"If you DM me (your DMs aren’t open), I’ll send you the script - it’s short, simple and you just run it with cron somewhere."
It appears that Musk did not take long to reply, as in a few minutes Palmer tweeted an update:
"Update: Elon has the script... we had a good chat on how and the Twitter team should definitely automate and fix this problem on their end though."
In July, a tweet by Elon Musk proposed that the billionaire CEO is entertained by scam bots that were mimicking famous people on Twitter – including Musk himself – in a act meant to steal Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies. He then posted: "I want to know who is running the Etherium scambots! Mad skillz"
Musk is not the only famous person to have been mimicked by scam bots. A number of scam accounts on Twitter have tried to pose as Litecoin founder Charlie Lee, while others still impersonated the CEO and founder of Telegram Pavel Durov.
Last year, CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey recommended that Twitter might make use of blockchain technology to battle misinformation and scams on its platform.
