I've recently gotten into the craze of mining altcoins. Like anything new that I jump into I go head first and all in. I'm one of those people that get a new game and look at the cover of the instruction book and think to myself, who needs this. Then after a few hours in, when I can't figure things out, I admit defeat and crawl back to the instruction manual I scoffed off.
To start my journey off I read a few reviews about hashing power of different video cards and power usage and blah blah blah. So being the impulsive person I am, I went straight to www.newegg.com and purchased a brand new ASUS Geforce GTX 1060 GPU. My old card was an EVGA GTX 460, and from the reviews I read, I would waste more money in electricity than i was going to make selling the coins i mined. Naturally it had to go.
Once the card arrived I immediately installed it and got to work. I downloaded about every piece of mining software I could find. I was all over the place. I created so many accounts at different mining pools that honestly i couldn't tell you where they all are. I then learned that once I started getting fractions of coins that there is a minimum payout threshold.
Long story short, I have fractions of coins at so many pools and I can't send any of those balances to my coin wallets. I made another rash decision. I totally wiped my PC and started fresh. Over the next few months I plan to take it slow, develop a strategy and execute it. I plan to document all my steps as a I go and share the results, and of course share all the mishaps and bad decisions along the way. Hopefully this will help others.
