I always speak to quite a few of my friends about my hobby/passion/investment that is cryptocurrency. They see it as a huge risk which as an investment I accept but they also cant see the benefits of using it over normal currency. I may not be the best persuader and i'm not a tech geek either although I wish I was. I explain the decentralization the way it takes power from corrupt banks, its speed and all the other benefits. But all these things are technical and hard to understand for people who are used and comfortable within this current artificial system.
They also say Crypto is dead due to its price drop, and I think that sums up their few on Crypto and how its only useful as an investment. They cannot see the value in the technology the evolution of money that is coming and will soon revolutionize our lives. I think it is also hard to say that they are ignorant, although there points are unfounded, mainstream and apparently experts have been also defaming Bitcoin giving out lies to the general public.
How can we fix this, well its always education, but with Crypto it needs to be a different style of education. One where the learning is using and practicing. For example Steemit actively gets people involved who I doubt would on more complicated and tech geek specific projects. Some will go to these projects once they have learnt about Cryptos potential. We also need big trusted firms that can persuade the public to follow, I think that is happening and adoption is increasing dramatically.
Another really interesting point is about money insurance because the positive about the banks are that your money is insured so if someone hacks your account you can get it back. Now although cryptocurrency make it very difficult for people to steal your money through decentralization and withdrawal addresses able to become offline this is still a big worry to the general public who maybe are not as careful with their money. And people like to feel safe they don't want to worry.
Now I know lots of firms are creating these types of services to take that responsibility out of our hands, personally I think this is a great thing. I don't want to be carrying around a withdrawal address that contains all of my savings just when I want to get some clothes. What I envisage is a bank that purely offers safety of your cash, that's your main savings account and then remove money onto your personal wallet on your phone for example.
Anyways we really need to push for education towards everyone and this can just be getting them to sign up to Steemit, tell me what you think of this post below!
