I'm sure many of you have seen this before, but for me this was a first. I was out and about and saw a coinstar machine that I never noticed before. Time for treasure hunting! Hoping to find some silver or other treasure, I checked the slot but sadly it was empty. No treasure this time...
CRYPTO IN THE WILD
Then I noticed this sign sticking out from the machine. It says, "Buy Bitcoin at this kiosk!" Of course I knew this was possible at coinstar machines as it's been well documented on various websites. I just haven't SEEN an advertisement like this on a machine in the wild myself, until now.
I think it's great to actually be seeing things like this in the real world. You have to appreciate the fact that this is exposure of Bitcoin to the average person. More exposure like this will strengthen public perception of Bitcoin and that's a good thing.
DOMAIN IN THE WILD
It's there... do you see it?
Coinstar.com/crypto
I like the domain coinstar.com. It's pretty good and it's an exact match of the name of these machines. I would like to point out also that after the domain and forward slash is the word "crypto" and not Bitcoin. Could coinstar be planning for support for more than just Bitcoin?!?
At the moment it simply forwards to the page, /bitcoin but I would assume that they chose to print "crypto" on their signage in preparation for future support of other coins, which is pretty cool if that's the plan!
Well that's all for today. Despite not striking gold or silver in my latest coinstar machine treasure hunt I did end up enjoying the hunt and seeing some other items of interest, but it would have been icing on the cake to have found some silver coinage in that machine too! Maybe next time...
