Originally, this guy was meant to be named Lord Loss, after a super overpowered demon in a book I read as a kid, which I vaguely remembered.
But after some experimentation I settled on this version:
Which I felt didn't have the scare factor to represent Lord Loss as I vaguely remembered him, so I settled on the name Lord Sigil, after the blue Sigil he is holding.
Writing this post, I did some research to find out which book I'd remembered Loss from, and found out he looks a LOT worse than I remembered !
Credits to Darren Shan, author of the Demonata, from which the character of Lord Loss comes from
I also discovered that the Demonata, a 10 part book series was written by Darren Shan
I only ever read the first, had no idea there were more... adds 9 books to the reading list
Darren Shan is also the author of The Chronicles of Darren Shan, which was quite recently partially adapted into a film (first 3 books were made into Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant, available on Netflix)
But enough about my latest book-crush, here's the process I used to create this Lord Loss wannabe:
Weavesilk
I tried a couple of combinations before hitting on a simple one, with not too much to distract the Deep Style software later on
Deep Style
After hitting on the right material, I went over to Deep Dream Generator and plucked it in:
This one has a certain gremlin vibe to the head, but the rest is a bit meh
This one lacked details, so I generated another one with different settings but it still didn't cut it
This one looks like a piece of abstract art...with glasses XD XD XD
Then I found this low-quality gem in the rough
And here we are !!
I hoped you liked this piece, even if my article on it was lighter on details than normal (Given I didn't do any post-processing with GIMP this time around) and had a bit more inspiration crammed in instead ;)
As usual, all my imagery is released under CC-BY
See you around the 'chain !
