Russia's Minobrnauki, the Ministry of Education and Science has launched a blockchain platform for tracking natural diamond. The platform claims to ensure the authenticity of the diamond by tracking it through its entire supply chain, from extraction to polishing and the final owner.
The diamond market is often plagued with fake stones that are cheap. It was developed by Russian startup Bitcarat.com, which was founded by graduates of the Russian technical university MISiS and the National Research University. The platform assigns a unique digital code for each diamond on a distributed ledger that is shared between all participants.
