I live in the UK but i guess this applies where ever you live.
The definition of "divide and conquer" is one power breaking another power into smaller pieces so to beat them or make them less effective.
It's been used throughout history, usually by governments to keep their hold on power, the "status quo".
Julius Caesar used it to conquer the celtic tribes.
We have seen recently in wars in the middle that other nations are funding different terrorist factions. With the aim of keeping a functioning government and security services of keeping control and ridding their nations of terrorists.
The working class in many nations are nearly always the target of this strategy. As soon as the ruling parties see the working classes starting to unite then efforts are made to divide us. usually to devastating effect.
Traditionally, ruling elites have used race, religion, class, money to effectively break the unity of the working class. In modern times we are seeing more novel divides, like gender employed to divide us.
In the UK recently the ruling classes and the liberal elite had a shock. We had a referendum on whether the country would remain as a member of the European union. They were confident of there being a vote to remain but they had a very rude awakening....

We voted to leave
There was never a sweeter moment!! In the days following the referendum I watched politicians and members of the liberal elite as they went into shock and then realization that the working class had formed one voice and voted their displeasure at a condescending elite who thought they could lie to us, scare us with stories of job losses and financial armageddon, and bully us into a decision that suited them. It was the finest moment and a political earthquake, the unthinkable had happened.
That was nearly 2 years ago.
Since then the game of divide and rule has never been so feverishly played!!
They have tried to divide us into different camps, "hard brexit", "soft brexit" in an attempt to weaken the vote.
They have given us politicians of the hard right and hard left to ever test our resolve.
The sad thing is i think it's working. two years on the British working class are tired of the arguments, the threats and the slurs.

For a moment we saw what we could do. we realized we had the power to change things for the good.
But that moment seems to have passed. The divisions are now real. The fault lines and the recriminations too deep.
I was starting to lose hope and fall into despair and then i discovered blockchain technology, crypto and steemit!!!
Now the possibilities for change seem endless and within our grasp!!
I don't know much the technical side of crypto as I'm not a "techie" but i use it, trade it and can see and feel it's beauty and it's almost infinite possibilities.
I feel like we are part of a revolution and we are on the verge of something huge..
