This may come as a shock to you, so brace yourself. Women are also in crypto. Some of them may even have more history, acumen, experience, and money than you do. Some do not. That depends on you, on them: as individuals. Stop seeing a female avatar and making assumptions. There's been an all too familiar pattern forming and I want it to stop before it becomes another microcosm of the way women are handled in other areas of tech and innovation.
The patronizing, condescending, mansplaining that is emerging as gen-pop starts adopting crypto is really starting to get frustrating and could discourage women from actively and outwardly participating in this space. It shouldn’t. We shouldn’t care. We should “lean in”… but many do not. Understand that your gender does not make you intellectually or even financially superior. I have seen some self-proclaimed "advanced traders” in threads give patently incorrect information as though it is fact, explaining their wrongness is the most dumbed down way to a female who dares oppose their view. One can debate without demeaning. Stop assuming just because a woman is posting she is a dumb, doe-eyed, naive little girl who is so lost and out of her league where it comes to crypto. Why do we have to work harder to be taken seriously when we speak?
I have not seen men taunted and prompted to prove how long they have been trading when engaging back and forth in threads. Maybe I'm missing it? I have not seen men asking other men to prove their holdings. What kind of arrogance is involved in saying, "If you were really this or that, you would know/have this or that"... It's disgusting. Why do we have to prove something to you before receiving the same respect? It has to stop. Women exist in this space and as one of them, I want to set firm boundaries where it comes to gender bias. It is up to not only the women but the woke men in this group and this community to stand against this behavior and dialogue when they come across it.
We all deserve the same respect, regardless of gender.
