Politics and law are always about 3 steps behind technology and its impacts on society. I'm not surprised at all. To be honest, the high ICO scam/failure rate is also a turnoff. If I am a politician I'd fear speaking in favor of some Cryptocurrency, only to see it fail or be declared a scam. Then that becomes the clip that some political opponent points to, to demonstrate I don't know what I'm talking about. Politicians tends to wait to respond to something once its value is demonstrated to the early mainstream society (rather than just the early adopters). Cryptocurrencies and blockchain just aren't there yet.
