Personal Opinion:
If you read the last article, retailers are being prepared to accept bitcoin, but what people are missing is that the problem is not with technology, people do not buy bitcoin to use it in retail stores, I am a crypto enthusiast, and my opinion is that if bitcoin is kept being marketed as a FIAT alternative, it will fail, bitcoin is digital gold, people buy it as a store of value, hoping it will increase in the future, no one uses his gold to purchase stuff unless he is extremely needy.
