Last week I started an internship-kinda deal at GameCredits, its a big Serbian cryptocurrency with a great future ahead.
Let me tell you all about it!!!
We started in a group of 5 people, so 5 junior developers with little or no experience. We were all greeted by their main software architecture guy Aleksandar Ostojic (self-proclaimed Anarchitect as his linked-in page says).
So after our initial meeting we were all pumped outta our minds, we are going to become next generation developers dealing with cutting edge web3 technologies and working on blockchain solutions with hyperledger and stuff. We were going to put out 8-10 hours of work every day for 3 months plus a decent salary for Serbian standards (I would have done it for free if there was an easier schedule) and sharpen our skills until we became ninja coders...
And then our first week started, first project a Snake- like game. You know that old and iconic Nokia 3310 game that we all know and love. Well naturally we finished it in a day or two, well that wasn't the issue at hand. Oh no, we all had some bad coding habits that would of course show up in the code. So we went through a lot of "OOOOOH" moments when code revision came. After that we learned the difference between programming and coding and stuff like how to write good BRD documents. Of course we discussed a lot of blockchain ideas and what should we do for our final projects and stuff like that.
Long story short we are still developing a snake game and rewriting the code for the 3rd time.
It kinda feels like those moments in karate kid when a young student is so hyped to learn to fight but young sensei keeps giving him chorus to do...
