As part of my crypto crash course, I'm reading Digital Gold by Nathaniel Popper. While I'm sure this is hardly news for the experienced crypto vets, I found it fascinating when he describes the first ever real-world crypto transaction, initiated by early bitcoin adopter, miner, and enthusiast Lazlo Hanecz:
10,000 BTC for one pie! That's roughly $114,000,000 in today's BTC value -- or the approximate cost of opening 400 Papa Johns franchises. I sure hope he got extra cheese!
And now I'm hungry. Let's see if I can scrounge up .00017567 BTC...
