Let’s Talk About Sia…

Sia is a company that is setting out to revolutionize data storage by utilizing the blockchain and others extra memory to their advantage.

Siacoin (SC) is planned to move to ASIC mining in 2018, so that means that the price of the coin will continue to grow. But other than that, how does their concept work?

Sia, allows for the User of data and the Provider of data. You can essentially take your free space that you are not using and rent it out for coins, SiaCoins. If you let your computer go offline while hosting space, you will begin to get docked coins from your account. But what does this mean for the user?

Well, they made it fairly simple for you to switch between different providers, this way your info is not locked on one individuals drive so they can access your content. They are also trying to compete with big names such as Amazon, Microsoft (One Drive) and Dropbox.

Their idea and vision is that everyone owns their own data. With big corporations limiting your space or charging you to use the space they provide, this also gives them the ability to freeze and lock your backed up information whenever they see fit too.

Sia offers a wallet on their website, but with the recent hardfork it has caused some issues with the wallet. The wallet is used for the whole operation, you can store your data in the wallet, you can set up hosting through the wallet and you can hold your Sia Coin in the wallet. I would suggest getting some and waiting till they fix all of their bugs…I will follow their blogs and leave a post when I finally move my SC over to the wallet.
