For those wanting to invest in blockchain currencies over the holidays before the big jump on New Years, I have some suggestions that you may or may not have heard of.
While standard cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are typically pretty poor for the environment due to the energy it takes to mine them, there are some that are eco-friendly. The most well known of these is NANO, which has a wind-powered network. However, coins like FairCoin, BitcoinClean, and Rhenium (one I just heard of today) seem to be pretty solid choices as well. So whether or not you intend to mine or not, investing in them and spreading the word could help people get away from the energy-devouring network of the typical cryptos and towards more sustainable models.
