I am very, very new to cryptocurrency. I bought a tiny amount of Litecoin a few weeks ago (about £5 or about $6.50 worth) and it has gone up and down. I have clicked on innumerable mining sites and made about £5 to £14 worth of Bitcoin, depending on whether the market is up or down.
Coinpot and all the faucets are down right now. I don't know if or when they will be up, but no real loss (except the time clicking and trying to solve the irritating reCaptchas).
I looked into the Cryptokitty phenomena but I don't think I will be paying thousands of pounds for a cartoon cat, even though I was vaguely interested as it looked a bit like it might be similar to breeding Chocobos in the Final Fantasy games. (I would love to make money breeding Chocobos - can someone make that happen?)
I am staying with my parents over the holidays and my mum game in with a sort of Schadenfreude voice to tell me Bitcoin had collapsed. having spent the last few days looking at all the Bitcoin and alt-coin news in the last few weeks and days I already knew it was on the slide, but I haven't put any real money into Bitcoin (just ethereum - which I still haven't gained on after fees, and Litecoin, which is doing well for me even with 'crashes')
My landlord is quite unhappy as he had 47 Bitcoins some years ago and sold them when they went down, at a loss.
I told him I would make him 47 Dogecoins as a Christmas gift. It obviously isn't the same, but I can't even give him them unless Coinpot comes back before Christmas.
Anyway, I am still happy. No real loss, yet. Hope people are still doing well.
Happy day before Christmas Eve and good luck and prosperity to everyone.
(Picture is some random coins I just photographed. I think they are mostly British commemorative crowns, which are practically worthless, but I needed an illustration.)
