Many projects that are currently on the ICO are aimed at solving a business problems and are issuing their own crypto-currencies for this. For example, BAT with its browser Brave attempts to solve the problem of using ad blockers, offering to pay for viewing advertising to ordinary users. SONM represents the marketplace for purchasing computing power around the world.
In general, the scheme looks quite understandable. Advertising in the Brave browser can only be purchased for BAT tokens. Further, these tokens, after deducting the commission of the Brave, are distributed according to the internal algorithm between the publishers that placed this advertisement and the users who looked at it. Further, users and publishers can spend these tokens either inside the system, or output them to the open market and there exchanging them for other currencies.
At the same time, BAT is a completely centralized product. In their WP, they indicate that the entire distribution of tokens within the system occurs according to their internal records (the Brave Ledger system). They do not even announce the size of the commission in advance, which will take the service.
ICO funds are used for the development of the project. The initial question: is it reasonable to release your own token, or is it a tribute to fashion and an opportunity to fund. The obvious advantage of the refusal to accept the fiat currency in favor of the crypto currency in this case is seen only one: it is very difficult to pay millions of users and thousands of sites around the world in the fiat currency. There are commissions, taxes, legislation in the various countries, foreign currency transfers and other. Then, substitution of the fiat currency for crypto currency looks quite logical, the company removes all these problems from itself. But they do not disappear anywhere - Brave and SONM simply shift the solution of the problems of currency conversion and their legalization to the business itself and its users.
Here the key question arises: will the business itself decide on these problems, and will this become the main obstacle to the rapid development of the projects themselves. The same BAT in its WP did not turn off a word about how advertisers should get this BAT. Such an obvious and important moment in the business plan is simply omitted. But if advertisers will not be able to pay for services, then the entire model will be untenable. SONM in its WP casually mentions that their tokens can be obtained immediately on the exchange rate in exchange for any currency. But they do not talk about where they get tokens for sale, if all tokens are stored by investors and users who got them for providing their computing power.
Let's imagine the usual situation. For example, I have an online clothing store. I want to give my advertising. I understand that in the Brave browser, suppose it is more effective. But what should I do? Just buy BAT tokens on the exchange on behalf of the legal entity in most countries is impossible, the bank will mark such a transaction as questionable, it's not advertising services. Therefore, I have to get cash out the funds. Then for cash to buy ethers, then exchange them for BAT (this is still provided that a sufficient number of people want to sell them), and only then to enter them into the service and buy advertising. But at each of these stages I will have to pay the interest and commission. In addition, the rate of BAT is very unstable and I almost can not even predict how much my advertising will cost. And if I'm any Nike at all and in a country where crypto-currencies are in the gray zone? Then I can not buy advertising at all. And whether I want to do this?
I am a beginner in crypto-currencies and, probably, I do not understand something. But I'm very worried about the question of how BAT and SONM will solve this problem of turnover of their tokens and whether it will become an obstacle for the development of these projects and the use of the service by real business. After all, in their analyzes they use the whole volume of advertising market.
It is interesting to know the opinion of the community and, perhaps, someone will tell me where I can read possible solutions of such problems.
