Hi everyone,
Thank you for reading my blog. I like to share with everyone my experiences in mining cryptocurrency.
On December 13, 2017, I ordered my computer parts from Amazon and Newegg. I was "stoked" and at the same time I regretted the purchase. Cost me roughly ~$1000.
Here's the list of computer parts:
1 x MSI Z270-A Pro Motherboard
5 x Onvian pcie risers
1 x EVGA 1200W PSU
1 x Sandisk SSD
1 x Sapphire RX 580 Nitro+ 8gb
1 x Intel Celeron CPU
1 x 4gb RAM
Couple days have passed and I purchased 3 more graphics card at around $300 a piece.
2 x Sapphire RX 580 Nitro+ 8gb
1 x Sapphire RX 580 Nitro+ 8gb Special Edition
Another day or two pass and I bought 2 more,
1 x Sapphire RX 580 Nitro+ 8gb
1 x Sapphire RX 580 Pulse 8gb (thought this one was a Nitro+ when i bought it)
On Christmas Eve 2017, I got off work and went to Home Depot to buy material to build my computer frame, it cost me $12 dollars. Gorilla glue, Husky hand saw, and 3 - 8' wood.
Took some measurements of my parts and drew some plans for the frame.
12" x 24" x 12" - Test fit. (That was a "Feels Good" moment)
I got the frame in the house and started placing parts on the frame. Five minutes later I went back into the garage and added a couple more wood to the base and the sides of the frame to give it more structure.
Hooked up the monitor and fired up the machine (Another "Feels Good" moment).
Next day (Christmas Day), I got the rig mining Ethereum (ETH) and Decred (DCR). Each card mines at 30Mh/s for ETH and 900Mh/s for DCR.
Here's the mining machine running 5 x Sapphire RX 580 Nitro+ 8gb, the Pulse model has yet to make its way into the machine.
That will be it for now and Thank you again for reading. Next blog will probably be about the troubles that I went through optimizing this rig. If you have comments, questions, or suggestions please let me know.
