Bitcoin is reigning all over the the crypto market with a remarkable improvement in the total capital. It currently stands on a number one spot with 101.2 Billion dollars which puts it with the 58.61% of total market share.
The last time Bitcoin had above 50% market share was in May 2017. You can clearly see in the graph that the the downfall of Bitcoin market share fall with the rise of altcoins and notably Ethereum. But with the current Bitcoin Bulls which will likely continue for foreseeable future, it seems almost impossible to catch Bitcoin.
Ethereum Byzantium hard fork was probably the best opportunity for Ethereum to catch on Bitcoins but it came at a such a wrong time and went un-noticed.
It's still too early to say that Etherum Byzantium fork went un-noticed because I believe it will probably show some spikes after the Bitcoin fork is over.
Nonetheless, Bitcoin seems a clear winner so far and will remain so as it claims it's share back. Let's see what the future holds.
