Some World Crypto News
1- Fintech company Circle is looking make a better, faster, digital version of the U.S. dollar.
The Goldman Sachs-backed start-up announced a new cryptocurrency pegged to the dollar and a $110 million investment round led by profitable crypto-mining company Bitmain, which brings Circle's value near $3 billion, the company announced Tuesday.
2 - Centra Tech, A cryptocurrency startup that was once backed by a professional boxer was shut down by authorities in April over accusations of fraud. In the wake, the FBI seized 91,000 ETH worth around $60 million and arrested three men. Those three have now been indicted for securities fraud, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New York.
3 - Coinbase announced the launch on Tuesday of four new products aimed at that investor class: Coinbase Custody, Coinbase Markets, The Coinbase Institutional Coverage Group and Coinbase Prime.
4 - Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group plans to carry out a large-scale trial of its own digital currency.
The bank plans to conduct the test of what they call MUFG Coin as early as next year in limited areas of Japan. The trial is expected to involve around 100,000 MUFG Bank account holders who apply to take part.
5 - Veridium Labs announced a partnership with IBM to sell carbon offset tokens on the Stellar blockchain. Each company has a role here with Veridium setting up the structure and determining the value formula. Stellar acts as the digital ledger for the transactions and IBM will handle the nuts and bolts of the trade activity of buying, selling and managing the tokens.
