Some World Crypto News
1- The Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) notes that they see “no apparent sign of organized crime or ML/TF concerning trading of cryptocurrencies,” although they have been used as a pretext in Ponzi schemes.
2 - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) isn’t terribly worried about the financial stability risks posed by cryptocurrencies. Nonetheless, the organization expressed limited concerns about leveraged trading of cryptocurrencies, the integration of crypto-assets into mainstream financial products, and the cross-border character of these digital assets.
3 - The Federal Trade Commission will host a workshop in Chicago on June 25 to examine scams involving cryptocurrencies.
The “Decrypting Cryptocurrency Scams” workshop will bring together consumer groups, law enforcement, research organizations, and the private sector to explore how scammers are exploiting public interest in cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and Litecoin and to discuss ways to empower and protect consumers.
4 - In order to prevent money laundering and other criminal activity, Japan’s Financial Services Agency, is quietly pressuring cryptocurrency exchanges to give up handling Monero (XMR), Zcash (ZEC), and Dash (DASH) and other cryptocurrencies favored by criminals and hackers.
5 - A source close to the working group that has been planning Morgan Stanley’s foray into adding cryptos to their trading desk (and creating a specific trade desk for only institutional crypto trades, arbitrage and ICO’s) gave us a signal this morning as to how closely the firm is to announcing its findings and getting approval to begin engaging publicly.
