Imagine the surprise, the shock, the horror you feel when you enter your wallet and you see your balance = 0. It's real and lots of people tasted this bitter taste of loosing their money, profit and all they had.
As a curiosity, just check this adress - https://etherscan.io/txs?a=0x8e6be4cc78557cf3087b15963bf7139b0154e0e0. This adress was used to scam a lot of people through phising sites. I saw a transaction of 395 ETH!!! That's over 50000 USD even now! Wow! It takes a minute of not paying attention to a message received by email or slack and you login into another identical website and your funds are gone! Forever!
You would say it will never happen to you, but many have said that before you and was hacked. In the recent days there was many scam campaigns related to ICOs - ex. InsureX which was forced to close earlier the fund raising. Or Myetherwallet for which was many messages sent on slack for reclaiming some bonus coins, or 2 step factor authentication implementation and so on. From the moment you login into a phishing site, they can transfer your funds in less than 3 minutes. And this is tested.
So unless you want to risk all your money I suggest you to take this warning seriously and take some precautions:
- bookmark all your wallets and ALWAYS login through your bookmarks link.
- install ether address lookup for myetherwallet
- enable 2 factor authentication for all your exchanges accounts
- create offline wallets when possible
- NEVER follow links send on different channels which led to wallets login or transfer
- ALWAYS verify the ICOs website to be correct
These are just the basic stuff which you should follow in order to minimize the risc of being hacked. And I invite you to complete the recomandations if you have more for everyone to see and be careful. This is not an easy thing and you must be always careful.
