I started investing in mid 2017 after a chat with a mate who had invested a bit of coin earlier on. He spoke to me with so much zeal and passion, he only spoke to me however of a certain project/ scheme he was a part of (not naming the scheme lol) he didn’t explain in depth what blockchain was and how this technology could revolutionize the world.
Fast forward a few months down the track when I decided to do my own research😉, It was here JULY 2017 when I became HIT👊 with what I like to call the CRYPTO BUG. I was hooked at finding out more and more and more about the different coins that were available and what companies were doing what!
Once I was fully aware of the power of blockchain technology I began to invest and man did I learn some hard truths! After my initial investment of $13AUD yes that’s right the first deposit I ever made to an exchange was only $13AUD lmao 😆 (cheap ass right here) and that got me like 10,000 something DOGE lol I thought I was gonna be a millionaire. 🤑
I invested a bit more money💰💵 in coins that were $0.003, $0.004 etc. before I knew it my portfolio had something like 200,000-300,000 shares in multiple projects. And then I waited (a few hours lol)..and waited (a few days)..and realised my money was depleting📉, after some thought I decided to sell and buy into other projects. I looked at what was available and what looked promising.
I did some serious study looking at market caps📊 and doing my own forecasts of potential coins that could have some growth in the coming months. Low coin supply vs Solid projects vs Low market caps. I stumbled on a few gems and I’ve been holding ever since.
I did take the time to watch tons of YouTube videos lol trait of a crypto noob 101 WATCH YOUTUBE VIDEOS, I subscribed to Boxmining, Datadash, BiteSizeBitcoin and Crypto Daily. Back then these guys were pumping out content daily, now you can jump on YouTube and you’ll see everyone doing vids and chart analysis on their favourite coins #NoShill. I owe a lot to these guys they opened up my eyes to the potential of coins and specific tech and spoke in laymans terms👍, simplicity attracts simpletons lol😆😜. I enjoyed Boxmining’s in a nutshell vids and enjoyed Crypto Daily’s news updates especially when the China FUD took place in September.
However now that were in 2018 and I see the massive influx of people jumping aboard the Crypto express I see these people making the same mistakes that I did and this is a WARNING⚠ to all noob investors! Yes you, YOU 👊 NOOB lol.
The best advice I can give is this,
1.DECIDE RIGHT NOW IF YOUR’E AN INVESTOR OR YOUR’E A TRADER, if you don’t have the know how to trade than you are like me and you’re an INVESTOR, which means you BUY and HODL. I’m confident now at trading some coin here and there for quick profit however 80% of my portfolio are all long term HODLs.
2.You MUST be patient don’t expect to hit the jackpot overnight, if you want to hit the jackpot go play some pokies at your local tavern. Patience in crypto is a sensible trait to have, I love this quote from Buffett "The stock market is a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient." – Warren Buffett
3.My final piece of advice would be too #DYOR do your own research!
