Bitcoin could have smartcontracts. Its just a matter of getting the community to come to a consensus to implement it. There's some bitcoin forks with the RSK smart contracts enabled that should be available soon. Bitcoin core is like a dinosaur now. I honestly hold close to $0 in BTC.
