Waste management has to to with all activities involved in the management of waste from its commencement to it’s final disposal. Such activities includes collection of waste, transportation, treatment, disposal and recycling. According to the World Bank, the generation of solid waste is tied to population, income and urbanization. If the report by this body which puts per capita waste generation rate at 1.2 kg per person per day is anything to go by, waste generated in China, which has currently 1.4 billion population, far outweighs the official figure.
Common waste produced in ancient times were mainly ashes and biodegradable wastes. While in the modern Era, following the inception of industrialization and rapid growth in population around the world and developed continents, the buildup of wastes in most cities has resulted to lapses in levels of sanitation and general quality of living.
The Swacchcoin Foundation aims at providing means to redeem the problems facing waste management and also converting waste inputs into useful outputs of eminent economic value.
