Bitcoin Price Fades After Spike to New Record High
Following yet another record high at the weekend, bitcoin is trading on the back foot today. The world's largest cryptocurrency rose to fresh all-time high of $7,601.39 on Sunday, as per CoinDesk's Bitcoin Price Index (BPI). However, the pop was short-lived, and prices soon fell back below the previous record high of $7,454.05 recorded Nov. 3.

China Monitors Booming OTC Bitcoin Market After Shutting Down Exchanges
After shutting down the country’s bitcoin exchanges, the Chinese government is monitoring the booming cryptocurrency over-the-counter (OTC) market. A recent government report shows that 680 million yuan, approximately $103 million, were traded in the last two weeks of October on the top three international OTC trading platforms.

Bitcoin Startup RSK to Launch Smart Contracts Sidechain in 2017
One of the most-anticipated bitcoin projects is planning a live network launch later this year. Revealed in an interview with CoinDesk, startup RSK aims to soon go live with technology that will bring smart contract functionality to bitcoin in the form of an interoperable sidechain. According to RSK co-founder and chief scientist Sergio Lerner, with the formal launch, users will be able to use ethereum-like tools on bitcoin for the first time.
