In this quick guide we will see a nice wallet to be used directly from a Telegram account. We are talking about Monee Wallet. The most interesting aspect is that once you have connected your Telegram number and user ID to the Monee wallet directly from the homonymous bot, you can exchange the Ethereum and ERC20 token with the Telegram users directly using the username or phone number instead that the ETH address. A nice feature in my opinion.
Let's see how it works step by step!
The Wallet was developed by the DeCenter team, a well-known crypto blog. Source codes are available on GitHub at the following address: CLICK HERE. At the moment it is in Beta status.
Monee Telegram Wallet
The wallet offers some interesting features. It allows you to send Ethereum or ERC20 tokens to friends or Telegram users simply by entering their username instead of the actual address. Alternatively, you can use their phone number. In addition, next autumn, will be added the opportunity to participate in a series of ICO affiliated to the wallet to get bonuses, but above all will come the Monee token, a reward for those who keep their funds within the wallet.
Finally, you can use an Escrow service. In fact, in case you decide to send Ethereum to a username not yet in possession of the Monee wallet, the funds will be retained in the Smart Contract of Monee until the user will register and will be verified through the phone number.
First step: creation of the Monee wallet
To use the Wallet Monee, we first need to create one to associate with our Telegram account.
So click on the link to the Bot Monee: CLICK HERE
This will open a chat on Telegram where you have to start the bot simply by pressing or the Start button
You will be asked to allow the transmission of your Telegram ID and username to the bot. Click OK to proceed.
At this point you will be asked to create a password to be used for access. Enter it and confirm it by clicking on Continue.
That's it, you've just created your Monee wallet. You can scroll through the wallet dashboard and view all available settings. You will find your balance sheet, the transactions executed and everything you need to perform transactions, register ERC20 tokens, create the JSON file to use the wallet with other clients and much more.
Second step: register username and phone number
To be able to make transactions simply by using the user's username or phone number, you will first need to send the phone number to your bot from the wallet dashboard. This is necessary, since on Telegram it is easy to change your username and then exploit the system of Escrow seen before to steal funds from other users. Precisely for this reason, Monee uses three parameters to authenticate users: unique ID Telegram , username and telephone number.
So let's see how to register our phone number. Once authenticated in the Monee wallet, scroll through the options and click on the "Set Phone" button.
The Monee bot will then send you a message requesting that you send your telephone number. Then open the chat with the bot.
Now click on the "Send Contact" option and your phone number will be sent after confirming your intentions in the popup window. You will receive confirmation immediately
Done, even the phone number has been registered :)
