I have been reading quite a bit about Hash Rush this week, and while I unfortunately won't be able to participate in the ICO of their ERC20 standard token called Rush Coin (used primarily as an in-game currency,) I can't wait for the release of this game at the end of the year. In the simplest of terms, Hash Rush is described on its website as "a first of its kind game in which your performance earns you real-world cryptocurrency."
The trailer above gives a beautiful first look at the game, but the team behind Hash Rush has already put out so much more content than this. The storyline behind the game has been constantly developing over the last few months as it becomes more and more complete, and not only is the game visually compelling, the lore behind it is also very in-depth and intriguing. While the minds behind the concept of Hash Rush come from a background in cryptocurrency, they have been able to recruit a world-renowned team of game developers, led by Rafal Nowocien who was behind the original online RPG series The Witcher.
Hash Rush is more than just a well-made strategy game, however. The game itself is backed by a mining pool, from which players are able to earn more mining power as they progress in the game. I like to think of it like the Elixr/Gold mines in Clash of Clans, but instead of collecting meaningless virtual currency that can only be used in game, they are producing actual cryptocurrency with real world value. According to the Hash Rush team we will start out with the ability to mine both Ethereum and Ethereum Classic, and other coins will become available to mine as you progress in the game.
Pictured above is the mining equipment that will be on the other end alongside what we will be seeing while playing the game. The developers started out as mining farm engineers, and came up with this revolutionary idea to encourage cloud-mining through the fact that it is taking place within a fun, interactive game. I believe that this idea has the potential to spark interest in cryptocurrency from a whole new population of prospective users who enjoy strategy games or have interest in mining but don't have the technical skills or financial means to mine on their own. One way I look at it is that Hash Rush will accomplish through a game what the Steemit social platform does, in that it is a fun way to accidentally stumble into learning about and adopting cryptocurrencies.
Ideas like these are what will be able to take cryptocurrency to the mainstream, and this is just one of the many reasons I'm excited about Hash Rush. Coming from someone who has always loved strategy games and has a growing interest in cryptocurrency, I couldn't be more excited to get into the game. I have only been able to scratch the surface here though, and if you're interested in learning more about the game I encourage you to check out their collection of articles on Steemit written by .
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the game, and I hope to see you all in the "Hermeian solar system" soon. Thanks for reading,
Cheers!
