Now that I'm familiar with more than half of the top 100 cryptocurrencies, I'm looking to know what's going on on the 2nd and 3rd page of CoinMarketCap. Rather than go down the list, I thought it'd be more fun and much more enlightening to get some discussion going and discover which less popular currencies have a buzz going around among the Steemit community.
I've my long term investments of EOS, Litecoin and BTC, going to get some Dash and Monero when I get a chance. Now I'm looking to really delve into the smaller stuff and take some more chances.
I made my first investments in smaller currencies about two weeks ago with:
Enjin
- meant to be used as a currency for in-game purchases. It has a strong niche and seems like a more realistic goal than some other coins.
Wabi
- Meant for tracking products to ensure that they aren't counterfeit. Though it seems like a noble goal, I'm not sure I like the idea of tracking everything. Still, it sounds like it will gain a lot of support.
Substratum
- Decentralized Internet. Sounds Great! I have no idea how realistic of a goal this is, but I would like to see them succeed and if they have a strong team and money behind them, I'm sure they can take it further that just the planning stages.
I put about $30-40 USD into each.
The first week was a bit nerve racking, For a while they weren't moving, especially Enjin, then Wabi went down. Now they're all doing much better. I was planning to make a quick trade at first but after researching more I think all these coins are likely to go up much more and possibly enter the top 100 (Substratum already has). I will probably lose the Wabi and Enjin coins later but Substratum sounds like something I would really like to invest in, not only to make money but also because they're doing something very positive.
As I mentioned, I'm new to this so I'd love some input here!
What coins are you betting on in early 2018?
