Hey guys!
I went to the Gem Faire in Del Mar on Friday! It was my first time, and while it wasn't exactly what I expected, I had a blast and I got some good deals on some stones (hopefully).
I haven't posted about my cement pots in awhile because I've been working on the "other" stuff. Marketing, networking, you know, the actual business side of things. Not exactly post-worthy, in my opinion. Anyways. As much of a planner as I am in every other aspect of life, I am REALLY impulsive when it comes to creating. As soon as I get the idea, I need to drop everything and try it. And here's where my lack of patience rears its ugly head. I've got a closet full of half used art supplies, and maaaaybe just a few untouched ones, too, because if I don't get it in my hands instantly, I lose the inspiration and creativity. I've probably already moved on to something else, too.
Since I came up with this idea of incorporating of crystals into my pots quite some time ago, it's been a struggle keeping the ideas fresh in my mind while waiting for the fair. I HAD a plan, a shopping list and knew exactly what I was looking for. Until I got there. Early, of course, because I do not get along well with crowds and the first two hours was for people with a resale license only. As soon as I saw all the sparkles, I forgot about my plan, fucked the budget I never really had and went to town just looking for colors I knew I needed.
Out of all the lovely booths I visited, only one was kind enough to include these info cards with each stone I bought, and packaged them separately so I couldn't possibly mix them up. YAY.
As for the rest of them - I could use some help identifying! My plan for the pots is to create a Chakra line and personalized healing pots that hold specific crystals and stones based on their properties. Sooo, yeah. Pretty important I get them correctly tagged.
I call this one Willy Wonka's Everlasting Gobstopper. Reminds me of the one from the original movie.
I recall the guy saying something like Red Quartz. Could the name be that generic? Doesn't look red to me either, but it fulfills that color range I was looking for...
Are these next two the same? I kept forgetting what I bought, and the really challenging part for me is I'm a little color blind! Red/Green deficiency so I'm never confident on color comparisons.
Case in point. The next shot is my BLUE choice. When I bought them, they were blue. Outside, they look blue. When I took the photo, they were still blue. But now that I look at this uploaded photo, I cant tell anymore. And it looks like the two on the left arent even the same specimen anymore.
Good thing I got a few more "blues". The middle one is blue lace agate. I'm 87% sure.
Yellow/Orange:
Black. This feels like the green kyanite, so thats my guess.
And these are amethyst and clear quartz, but there is no way I can even begin to guess where from:
Next time Ill be sure to write down what each piece is, and keep it wrapped with them until I need them! Oh, and I paid exactly $99 for all these goodies. Good deal or good steal (on the vendors part from my wallet)?
Thank you for your help, friends!
