In The Beginning . . .
When this farm was first discussed 3 years ago, it was going to be bananas, mango, papaya, and assorted garden 'stuff'. The 9 rice paddy's were going to remain as they were.
We had a big house in the village already, with a small restaurant and shop. Then came covid, and that changed.
The Side Effects . . .
Thailand basically shut down. Restaurants and smaller village shops were closed. People were locked down, with in-country travel restricted.
It must have worked as although Thailand had many people effected, the per capita death rate remained relatively low.
The 'problem' for me was the local village health officials said I couldn't come from America and live inside the village. There was lingering paranoia about 'farang' bringing covid from other places. Fair enough, their village, their rules.
But I needed a place to live!
The Farm Evolves . . .
What's a guy to do? Build a house! 😆
It's not as big as the other one, but quite nice, in my opinion.
And since I was going to live on the farm, might as well have something to do, and maybe make a little money. And thus it began!
What Does The Future Look Like . . .
Damned if I know, never built a "Thai Empire" before! 😆
Back where I live in America, this would almost qualify as a hobby farm. But here? We have the biggest operation in the area.
We're still about 3 days out on the new addition to the hog barn, but it is taking shape. It amazes me how hard the people work in this heat!
This adventure has really only just begun. Where it takes me, hasn't been defined yet. No matter where that may lead, I know that it will only get better!
