I am reading a book by Robert Cialdini, “Influence” Science and Practice His book is about what he terms, weapons of influence.
Weapons of influence are used on a daily basis to get us to either change our daily behaviors and/or persuade us to buy a product. The following are some of the weapons described in his bool.
Reciprocation: If I do something for you and/or give a gift to you then something is expected in return.
Commitment and Consistency: If I can get you to commit to something then I can use the commitment to keep you consistently behaiving according to your commitment.
Social Proof: If everyone jumps off a bridge you will to.
Liking.
Authority: When I project myself as an authority figure I can persuade you to action based upon your recognition to my authority.
Scarcity: Buy now before this offer goes away.
Instant Influence: Social media is an excellent example. We have influencers. Why do you think they are given that name?
