I’m starting a new series for 2017. It’s “Things Canadian” and will feature some aspect of Canada that you may or may not know about. I hope you’ll find it as interesting as I’ll enjoy learning more about my country. The first post in the series is here - “What the Heck is a New Years Levee?”
I’m not abandoning the Steemit Ramble. I enjoy doing it as I manually curate around the site. Now that I’m past my really busy time of year, I expect to get back to more regular posting.
I hear the Steemit roadmap is due out in a few days. Looking forward to see what is in store for 2017 on this still young site.
Onward to today’s rambling
Mummification in Ancient Egypt: How Is It Possible To Preserve A Body For Thousands of Years?!
writes a post about the why and how of the mummification of Egyptian nobility in ancient times. It’s always fascinating how these advanced methods were carried out in times when people didn’t possess the so called advanced knowledge we have today.
Can small and new users still make it on Steem? I dont think so.
I’ve included this post, not because it has quality writing, it doesn’t, but it asks a question that I’m sure many new people to Steemit ask. If they can still succeed on the platform when others are so far ahead of them? The author doesn’t think so, but I think the people who have commented have made it pretty clear the answer is “YES” - if you work at it.
My "Periodic Personal Pantheon" of Steemit Authors
shares a list of some of his favourite authors here on Steemit and what they write about. Some of the list I’m already familiar with and with those good choices, I know I’m going to be interested in checking out the folks I’m not familiar with.
Book Review: Watership Down - A Tribute to Richard Adams (1920-2016)
I’ve heard of Richard Adams but not actually read any of his work. Unlike , Watership Down wasn’t required reading for me when I was in high school. His review here has intrigued me. I think I will add it to my ‘to read’ list.
I'm Phoenix. I'm an artist and writer, and a survivor of childhood abuse.
A newer member of Steemit, writes about his experiences as a child and the multiple abuses he suffered from multiple abusers. It takes incredible courage for a survivor to speak out about their experiences. Good for you
and welcome to Steemit. You seem to have found a safe space here.
New Year's Resolution, or Reset? How to Succeed in the Changes You Want!
New Years is the traditional time to set resolutions, to begin anew to make changes in our lives. It’s also a time to find our resolutions rarely last very long and we set the idea aside until the next year. writes about ideas to reset our current behaviour rather than trying to completely change cold turkey. Some interesting ideas and well worth exploring.
Thank You For Following My Blog ! My Top Steemit Goals For 2017 ! Searching For More Followers !
writes about her aspirations for her activity on Steemit in 2017. I think pretty much all of us should join her on that quest. It will be good for the platform and ourselves.
The place of a thousand souls....
shares some sobering pictures of Theresienstadt, a WW2 extermination camp the Germans built. In these uncertain times, we need to remember the horrors of the past and be vigilant they are not repeated.
HOW NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS STARTED -- AND WHY...
One of my favourite writers on Steemit, writes about the origins of New Years resolutions and the evolution of the New Years celebrations and all their variations around the world. A very interesting read. Well worth exploring.
Wrap-up on Day 51
Was some interesting reading today. I’m noticing a nice variety of posts on the system which makes it very interesting reading and curating.
Supporting and Upvoting
Let’s not forget folks. I’m sharing these posts not only because I like them. I’d really like to see them get support and upvoting. I know some of the posts have done okay by the time I post my ramble, but some really could use the support and upvoting.
Subscribing to My Posts
In addition to following me on Steemit, which I really appreciate. If you want to be sure to know about every post, you can subscribe at my other blog. I’ll send you an email when I post.
