Here’s a look at the front face of Cusrow Baug, the sprawling Parsee colony that occupies part of the western flank of Colaba Causeway, South Mumbai. Built in 1934, this 84,000-square-yard complex is home to 500 Parsee families and has its own Fire Temple, sports centre, and social activities cell. Brushed by sea breezes, this idyllic retreat is, unbelievably, just a dozen or so steps from the noisy, hyperkinetic Colaba shopping strip, a Mecca for fashionistas and foreign tourists alike. Passing through Cusrow Baug’s main entrance, either way, is like going through a time warp.
