The Great Winter Get Out is the greatest thing to happen for the year round cycling community in Buffalo.
What is it?
It's a scavenger hunt style contest that encourages people to get outside in the winter. Run by an employee at Campus Wheelworks bike shop, it is now in it's 3rd year. My team won the first year. I was unable to participate last year due to injury. I am participating in the singles category this year. This year's contest runs for 3 months. It is actually run as a monthly contest this time, with points resetting and new challenges on the first of each month. They use the Goose Chase app to run the contest.
Today was the first day. It began with a bike breakfast at the shop. We got 600 points just for showing up. We then went on a ride viewing historical sites in the city. See my previous post:

I completed four challenges today, racking up 2000 points. This had me in third place but I've now dropped to a 3-way tie for fifth. I have 30 more days to try and get ahead.
