In my previous post, I wrote about an upcoming trail race that I signed up to.
Well the race is done and I did it!
I rode hard and at times felt like giving up! The track was a real challenge, add in about 2,500 other riders.
I don't have a car so I rode from my place to the race venue which is about 30km.
Also, let's not forget about how hot that day was. And to top it off, I haven't been riding as I was working on a Steem-related project.
But I pushed on, got tired, had fun, and most importantly, finished and conquered the track despite the odds and mishaps.
๐ซStart
Early on, even before the race started, as I was getting to the staging area, my chain broke. Luckily, I brought a chain tool/chain cutter. So I fixed it on the spot and was able to ride the wave I was on.
๐ต Ride
The biggest hindrance (which I learned a hard lesson on) was the condition of my body.
People say I'm strong and based on my self-observation they're right. I won't argue with that. This gives me confidence most of the time.
But this time, I got arrogant. I did very little training and gain a lot of weight (about 6kg, from 62 to 68).
The track taught me a lesson. A hard one!
๐ Finish
After a few hours of hard-riding through different types of terrain, I saw the finish line. The feeling of receiving the finisher medal ๐ was truly humbling.
So glad that, that I didn't give up! The home-bound ride was a mix of really exhausted and feeling fulfilled.
That day I learned:
You can be slow, you can even lose. Just keep working hard.
Because you only lose when you give up!
