Decided to do a ride to Kuala Selangor and go to Bukit Melawati as we never done a ride like this before.
We stop to take a picture when we reach Kuala Selangor before heading up Bukit Melawati.
Bukit Melawati is actually the administrative centre and stronghold of the Selangor Sultanate in the late 18th to early 19th century.
Relics of the past can be found here such as the protective walls of the fort, the palace ground, a lighthouse, a royal mausoleum, seven wells, a fabled execution slab used for beheading offenders, a 100-step ladder, a poisonous well and several cannons pointed at the moth of the Selangor River.
We continue to ride towards the hill and stop for rest once we reach. Kota Melawati, an ancient fort lies on top of the hill. The view from the top is great too with the coastline as its backdrop.
Kuala Selangor Lighthouse also known as Altingburg Lighthouse built in 1907 and it was used during the British colonial times. The lighthouse beacon continue to shine and function as guide for ships navigating the Straits of Malacca untill this day.
