Wednesday was a little bit of a crazy day. It started with me poking my teeth in the middle of the night. It was already past midnight, around 02:00 in the morning. I was still watching my series. I absolutely had to finish it. I only had two episodes left, so I did that, of course.
So there I was poking my teeth in the yellow light of the TV and Netflix, and being so glued to the screen, I actually pushed the toothpick all the way deep through the gap of my teeth, and I felt my tooth move! Yikes! But as it turned out, what actually happened was that I pushed one of my fillings out.
And it is not a small filling. It's actually over half of the tooth. So, what I have left now is just a very tiny wall of a tooth, and it's towards the outside of my mouth. But I obviously need to go and refill it or fix it, or, worst-case scenario, they might have to pull it out because it was a really big, difficult process to fix in the first place. And I don't think they can do it again. Alternatively, it's going to be expensive.
In any case, I did not break my teeth with the power of my mighty toothpick; it is not exactly a Harry Potter wand of wizardry. There was actually a hole, or cavity, developing under the filling, so it has probably been there for a long time. And now it just got loose. I have had some sensations in the tooth before, but I never paid much attention because I just thought that, since it was a difficult fix, it just left the roots somehow sensitive. But, no, it was not the case. The complete filling fell out. (I do have pictures of the gap, but I am not going to attach them here ... some people might not find them pleasant).
That was about the tooth. But how about my dear Red Devil, aka Qashqai?
On Wednesday morning, at 08:00, I brought my car to the garage to get it fixed because the back hatch door had frozen, and my husband actually yanked the handle off the car. Now, finally, it was time to get it fixed.
So we had taped the original handle back to the car so that it wouldn't fall off, because the lights were still attached to the handle. The lights are underneath the handle, and as you might know, they point at the license plate. So they had to be there. We couldn't pull the handle off completely because the lights would have just been dangling there freely.
Of course, we were then able to pick up the car later. And what had actually happened was that since we used the brown tape, it left glue residue on top of the surfaces where you stick it. We now had a new problem. The paint absorbed the tape and the glue, so it looked hideous, as you can see in the picture. And the guys in the garage told us that they could've washed it off, but they didn't know if it would come off, so they didn't want to scrape it. Well, given the situation, it was understandable that they left it to us.
What a stress and regret! I thought we ruined the whole paint!!! That would be an enormous expense to fix the paint.
As advised by the guys at the repair shop, we went to a local DIY department store or, like, a general store where we could get some cleaning products. And we actually found this miracle spray. I have never seen this kind of spray before.
π And what actually happened was that you just sprayed it on, and you wiped it clean. And the glue and tape residue just came off just like that. And I am so, so grateful we were able to find this spray! I have never seen this kind of spray before, and I would never, in a million years, have thought that this actually works, and it worked! I am so, so, so happy.
My beautiful Qashqai, my red Qashqai with a black handle on the back door, now looks different from the other red Qashqais. But it doesn't matter. I'm quite okay with that. It actually looks pretty good. At least it's easier to spot now than the other ones, other Qashqais, and I don't think we even want to paint the handle anymore now.
What I think now is how silly it is to get attached to a CAR. A car! It's not even an expensive one. But it's my car, and I love driving it!
