Everyone has the right to work, it is a fundamental human right. So this text should not be a piece of news, but unfortunately it is.
Silent cafe, opened in Zagreb, is the first cafe in Croatia in which deaf persons are hired.
This is the project of the Zagreb Alliance of deafness and the City Office for Economic Affairs, which shows that communication difficulties do not have to be an immeasurable problem.
For deaf people it's hard to find a job, so the city authorities have decided to do something, and the main aim is to provide opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Things are better now than they used to be, we already have bright examples in Zagreb. Persons with Down syndrome have recently started working in cafes and various kitchens and restaurants.
In this particular case, three young man passed pre-qualification and got a job.
Massage is written on the screen:
*In this cafe deaf people are working also. To order, use a tablet device to overcome the communication barriers.
Silent cafe shows how ordinary people can work with people with disabilities and they, like all other persons, can earn their salary and be a full member of society.
Although apparently an ordinary cafe, Silent Cafe is a project that is supposed to bridge the differences and break prejudices.
If you have a chance, feel free to stop by anytime!
