"Dear Dawne - Formatting Again!"
Season 1 - Episode 12
We Have An Experienced "Steemit Personal Mentor" To Help You Directly!
(Also Newbie Nickels Added Again This Week!)
Formatting Again? Yes... You Can Never Get Enough Pointers
I know some of you may be thinking another post about formatting, but trust me- this is so crucial on steemit.
As I said last week I have seen some really good posts get lost in the steemit shuffle, bygone into the abyss of other quality written posts and missed out on some HUGE curated Upvotes- all because of the formatting and messy presentation.
I want to introduce all of you to a steemian who has been diligently writing a series of posts called the Beginner's Guides.
has accumulated information, tips and easy how-to information and complied it all together for you. Granted this post today is about formatting but I can't say it enough to keep these posts by ethandsmith handy.
The Beginner's Guide to Steemit
- Part One is a basic get-started quick guide- which is the main focus of this post but I want to share ALL of his links and information/guides.
- Part Two is about account safety and with all the phishing and scams lately- READ this!
- Part Three is about currency and tokens
- Part Four is about your wallet
- Part Five is about social functions
- Part Six is about voting
Two More Formatting Links
This is one of the better formatting guides and posts I have found by far. I am sure I've shared this before with many, if not most of you here. But for the new members joining on a daily basis, this is one link you'll want to save for future reference.
This link may be two years old but it definitely holds true even now.
Some of the biggest issues I see with posts while reading can actually lie within the formatting.
Make sure to use BIG & BOLD for headers # all you have to do is use the hashtag sign, one space, type your text then another space and one more hashtag.
To make the header one size smaller, use two hashtags together
Even smaller? Use three hashtags at the beginning and the end
By using these hashtags to emphasize your headers, it can show the reader a division in your post of topics or ideas. I LOVE dividers! Let's me know a new topic is coming up; or has ended.
So... ask me a formatting question and let's see if I can help you. Or maybe you want me to look at one of your posts to advise you on how to make it even better than it is now? JUST let me know right here in the comments.
It An Open Forum So Ask "Dawne" Anything!
Newbie Nickels (Available to EVERYONE for TODAY ONLY, Newbies only after that)
Anyone can play. Anyone can join. You don't have to be a newbie, to win this Newbie Nickel.
First, a Newbie Nickel is something that we at the #newbieresteemday initiative use to incentivize the newbies to play games or enter contests. Its a $0.05 upvote on their entry in the game/contest and it guarantees them something for making an effort. For some newbies this $0.05 is more than they can make on many posts, so it is indeed a way to earn "something" and to learn/engage at the same time.
How To Get Your Newbie Nickel TODAY ONLY On This Post
#1 Leave a comment to Dawne on this post. It must be a question directed at her asking for her help, or it must be a relevant observation to her topic of the day.
#2 If you leave a comment and Dawne responds, you can earn a "bonus" Newbie Nickel for a relevant additional comment to her. Note: that is (2) Newbie Nickels just by engaging Dawne and following up respectfully with her replies!
