I don't know if you have followed my affiliation with a group in CT (crypto twitter) called "the Degens".
Fair warning... this is certainly going to come across cheesy af! But since I'm out of f'cks to give... you get my point, right?
It's been a while since I got involved with these lovely people.
I loved the way that they executed thread takeovers in Twitter when something too cringe or wrong was posted there.
Far beyond these fantastic displays of courage and humor the gals and guys in this group always showed great compassion and love for their fellow CT'ers and stuck together when things weren't so nice and salt was raining down bucket wise on all crypto enthusiasts.
They support and help each other but they are also there for people outside of this group.
It absolutely stuns me how close we all got. It's people on the interwebs but wow, they really make me feel at home interacting with them.
A lot of times they really make my day with some nice or harsh comment, engaging in discussions or simply telling a story about what was going on in their life's.
The "taking a twitter break" every once in a while is
Yep, I'll admit at time our content is a little offensive to some but it's part of the game and everyone that is turned off by this can easily mute threads and accounts or unfollow.
We've got a bunch of people in here that are shitcoiners extraordinaire, half way maxxis,I guess I would fall into that category without the loud and toxic hate preaching against alts, not at last because I'm sitting on a bunch of bags and of course because I outright love #steem!, and people that barely get in touch with crypto at all it seems at times but who still fit in there perfectly.
If you're into crypto you might have felt that since the end of 2017 things weren't so nice besides the more recent move upwards for precious Bitcoin and some alts beginning in May 2019.
The bitter truth is that Bitcoin had lost 85% of it's all time high and most alts in the range of 95% so there's that.
But also in CT there was a lot of salt passed around and some of the in fights were just ugly and for someone as harmony addicted as me... well, this was a real bummer.
But I could always turn to my fellow Degens and they would always find a way to make me laugh or it was the other way around, because probably due to my blessful ignorance for me those cups are always half full even if there's only a drop left in them! Hahaha!
Over the course of the last 10 months we lost some Degens too. Not that something bad happened to them they just couldn't or didn't want to spend so much time in Twitter anymore.
Because, tbh it costs a lot of time if you want to be attentive and for some this can get simply to time intensive and exhausting.
Some of my fellow Degens had made it a recurring routine to go dark for a few days to cleanse their thoughts, get new perspectives or because irl stuff was catching up to them.
This was practiced regularly by one of my favorite Degens @Witty_Crpto as well.
Witty had won the hearts of fellow cryptonauts all over CT.
He engaged in discussions/discourse with many people on a daily basis and he's one of these very special people that can, simply be interacting with you, make you feel good!
He could tweet out a line out of a Grateful Dead song, or make a life session from his turntables, support creatives throughout CT and beyond and it seemed no matter what he did he touched peoples hearts.
His interaction always seemed to be more about others, their interests, needs and feelings.
He would listen to what people had to say and helped many with telling them about his own experiences without ever getting smart assy in the slightest.
Now, the day before yesterday Witty has decided that he'll get of twitter for good, I/we hope only for now tho, because of some business he has to take care of.
A cry of desperation and disbelief could be heard throughout our neighborhood of CT but because Witty has made friends far beyond our little group the sadness about his decision could be felt almost everywhere in CT.
I guess most of us understand very well that there are things irl that need full and undisturbed attention.
Yes, I do miss him very much, and it's only been 1 1/2 days so far, of course I respect his decision eventhough I hope he'll be back one wonderful day!
I reckon most of the other Degen's feel the same way!
This made me reflect on the many wonderful interactions we all have daily with interwebs people from around the globe!
Social media has been something that some people "do" for the longest time for me. I've been "lurking" so to say without much interaction with others for years.
When I had a really bad stretch irl it was this wonderful Degen's group that brought me through my day's for quite some time and Witty and the other Degen's were very welcoming and supportive.
First and foremost Witty!
He brought me into this group of tight and supportive friends.
I'll remember that and I'm very thankful Brother!
Thank you Witty! ❤️🙏
Whenever you're ready we'll be there!
I just had to get this off of my chest! 🤷♂️
I wish you all, no matter in which neck of the woods you are, which community you are a part of, a wonderful weekend, tranquil holidays and a happy new year!
Maybe bring a smile onto someones face either on CT or where ever else!
This is among the best things we can do for each other, don't you think?
Cheers!
