I've got nominated by for participating in the "Desert Island Disc Music Challenge'.
This challenge, challenges you to name 5 albums you would take if you were stranded on a desert island for one year with only a device to play them.... I think it's a great challenge but makes you think hard "Which songs can I listen to all year" :)
So here are my five albums I can't miss a year and have to be with me on the island..
1. Randy Rhoads Tribute.
This is my absolute favorite. This album is released to honour Randy Rhoads, in my opinion the best guitarist ever lived....He sadly died way to young, just when he was about to conquer the world together with Ozzy Osbourne... This album never get's bored because there is so much in it. Everytime I listen to it I discover other sounds. And the solo's of Randy.....they are just stunning.
Unfortunatly there is no good live footage, that's why I post the video of Live in montreal.. It's just the sound, but you can exactly hear what I mean.....
2. Images and words - Dream Theater
This album was my first encounter with Dream Theater and made a huge impression. I bought it after seeing the video 'Live in Tokyo" (I thought)... This is for me the old Dream Theater, with long songs, really heavy rifs and so on.... I love the complete album and it will never bore me because there is so much to listen in the songs... The video shows 'under a glass moon' great song, displays the virtuosity of the band..
3. Abba Live at Wembley
With the metal and prog from the first two albums I have to choose some more accessible music :) ... Then it have to be Abba.... A great band with such a great songs and music... Everthing about that band is just right.... So for the layed back moments, I has to be ABBA. This version of Knowing me Knowing you, the voices of both Frida and Agnetha, stunning and goosebumbs....
4. Pulse - Pink Floyd
When I think of a deserted island I automaticly think of a nice beach where I can sit down and enjoy 'a' view.... Then the album Pulse of Pink Floyd comes to mind.... relaxation, enjoying the great sound of David Gilmour (singing and playing both).... That's a nice variety with the other albums... Comfortably Numb is such a great song, it creates an relaxing atmosphere... I love it....
5. Andre Hazes - Live in het concertgebouw
Andre Hazes is a Dutch folk singer. He is still very popular but passed a way some time ago. He has made some great songs from the heart... He has to come with me on the deserted Island... just to remind me of the great songs he made for the Dutch people....
, thank you for this challenge, loved it to really think about the music I wanted to take with me....
I would like to nominate ,
