Hi Steemit!
My name is Kyle, I'm an American user experience designer. I’ve been working remotely and traveling around the last few years* but recently settled into a more permanent design job in Shanghai, China.
I love reading about cognitive psychology and the way that human sensation and perception at the behavioral level, and broader understanding through narrative at the reflective level come together to form the human experience. In practice, this means a lot of design research and, of course, interface designs.
I also blog at Knowledge in Society, a site named after F.A. Hayek's essay about "...dispersed bits of incomplete and frequently contradictory knowledge." It is a celebration of little things that I've found here and there around the world. I usually don't fully understand them, but feeling your own brain try to make sense of things is always a delightfully humbling experience.
Other than that, I just read a lot. Lots of history, tons of those pop-psychology books, and things that I can find about different cultures trying to understand one another. I like listening to people talk about politics, but I don't have any strong affiliations personally.
I also love photography and I’m learning Mandarin and reading a lot about Chinese history and culture!
Looking forward to making lots of new friends on this platform!
