Custom Post and Beam Currently Under Construction
This is one of our ongoing projects in Deerfield New Hampshire. The homeowners were energetic and so excited to start their dream home that they decided to get started this fall and not wait for spring weather. I think they made the right decision! The foundation was set before any major frost and the framer got our weather tight shell up in less than 2 weeks.
This type of a build in late fall works out well for everybody! With a roof overhead, it gives all the subcontractors work for the winter. Work in a cold house is better than no work at all! But at the speed this frame has gone up I'd bet they have some supplemental heat going now.
I talk to a lot of customers who say spring build, spring build. Even this month they say spring. That's all well and good, but a lot goes into getting a home design, permits and builders lined up for a job that could only be 3 months away. Not to mention that if a homeowner doesn't have a builder lined up for spring by now, chances you wont have him until Fall! Plus there's the mud to think about. Trucks, equipment, materials, dirty boots clunking around on a new home. none of this is great for a new home, or any project for that matter.
Yes we could have an early spring, a late spring, a mild winter. Nobody can predict future conditions, however based on experience with past customers, they seem more often than not to be happy with their decision to get going in the fall, even with questionable weather coming.
All of our timbers are planed, cut, notched and labeled in our manufacturing facility, leaving the construction simple and efficient!
We manufacturer all of the exterior wall panels with window and door rough openings already cut out and ready to be nailed off onsite.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed the post and keep up to date on current projects!
