Roter Scheckenfalter ■ Spotted Fritillary

Der rote Scheckenfalter ist ein Tagfalter aus der Familie der Edelfalter (Nymphalidae). Im allgemeinen sind die Scheckenfalter relativ schwer zu bestimmen. Alle Arten tragen eine mehr oder weniger markante Binde mit oder ohne Punkte. Man muss sich schon genau mit der Materie befassen, um sie auseinander halten zu können. Den roten Scheckenfalter kann ich jedes Jahr, sehr zahlreich entlang der Magerrasengebiete von Main und Tauber finden. Auf Deutschland bezogen hat er Falter seinen Verbreitungsschwerpunkt im Süden. In Norden des Landes ist er relativ selten vertreten. Der Falter fliegt bei uns in Deutschland von Mitte Juni bis Ende August in einer Generation. Die Raupen ernähren sich von Spitzwegerich.

The spotted Fritillary is a butterfly of the family of (Nymphalidae). In general, it is difficult to identify the pinto butterflies among each other. All species wear a more or less distinctive bandage with or without dots. You have to deal with the matter exactly in order to be able to tell it apart. I can find the spotted Fritillary every year, very numerous along the low-nutrient grassland areas of Main and Tauber. Related to the whole of Germany, it has its main distribution in the south. In the north of the country, it is relatively rarely represented. The butterfly flies in Germany from mid-June to the end of August in one generation. The caterpillars feed on ribwort plantain.

Bei diesem Scheckenfalter gefällt mir besonders, dass sich Raupe, Puppe und Schmetterling farblich ähnlich sind. Aus diesem Grund habe ich mir gedacht, dass ich die Entwicklungszyklen von der Raupe, über die Puppe bis zum Schmetterling in einem Beitrag vorstelle.

What I particularly like about this pinto butterfly is that the color of the caterpillar, pupa and butterfly is similar. For this reason I thought that I would present the development cycles of the caterpillar, the pupa and the butterfly in one article.
