Sneak Preview - blind date at the cinema
Here in Saarland, several cinemas offer the possibility of a sneak preview. We have now been to three presentations at the UT Kino and so it is time for a review.
But first, let me explain what a sneak preview is.
It's a screening at the cinema where the audience doesn't know in advance which film will be shown. It takes place once a week. As the word preview suggests, it is a preview. This means that the film will only be shown in cinemas in the future. So visitors see an unknown film that is actually not yet available. Exciting!
What's more, the sneak is cheaper. This week we only paid 6€ per ticket.
But what kind of films are they showing?
So far I've been to three screenings and seen three completely different films.
Sneak Preview #1
Let's start with the first one. The Outpost. A typical American war movie with Orlando Bloom. It's about a useless outpost of the American army in Afghanistan, which is overrun by the Taliban. The American soldiers, of course, once again perform one heroic feat after another.
Not a film for me and certainly not for my girlfriend. Typical American war propaganda. But at least Hollywood quality. 3/10 stars for me.
Sneak Preview #2
Any genre? EVERY👻!
2021 was the second time we went to the sneak. This time it had it all. After a few moments we realised that this time it was a horror film. Super! A first-class horror film in a huge dark cinema hall, which is also hardly occupied because of Corona! What could be better for two people who like to avoid this genre because they would like to fall asleep without a care in the world?
The title of the film was MALASAÑA 32. It's about a family that moves into a cursed house in Madrid. Psychohorror at its best. *Funfact: We were in Madrid ourselves a few years ago in a house that looked exactly like this, and it's not far from the Malasana district.
During the film we considered leaving the cinema several times, but I am of the opinion that you have to finish watching a horror film. Because half a horror film leaves far too much room for interpretation and that is often worse than the film itself. If you know what I mean.
We held out. While some others left. Understandable.
In the end, the film was still very well done. I would give 6/10 stars on my personal scale. If I liked horror films, it would probably be a 9/10.
Sneak Preview #3
This week we went to the Sneak Preview again.
We were prepared for the toughest. Whether it was a children's film, a horror film, or a cheap comedy. We were prepared for everything. But what came then, we had not expected....

The film "As in real life " was shown. Exciting title, isn't it? We already knew we were going to be fu.... frustrated when we could read in the credits who supported the film. Only French film clubs. Enjoy the trailer:
And did it taste good? The trailer is a hundred times more exciting compared to the film.

Imagine Undercoverboss on Arte. (nothing against Arte, but Arte has a bad extremely boring side!)
It was about a woman who started as a cleaner because she had not learned. She made friends with other cleaners, hiding from them that she was in fact a writer who wanted to write about precarious employment (i.e. cleaners). Of course, this came out later. Some were angry, some were not. Unfortunately, the part where she granted her new friends their wishes was missing. I feel cheated....
SPOILER ENDING
So this movie was a total bust. I don't even know why we stayed.... A surprising number of people stayed. At least the popcorn was tasty.Score 0/10.
Realisation
The sneak preview is basically exciting. The thrill is great because it is not at all foreseeable which film will be screened. The tickets are cheaper and the choice of film is eliminated. This can ease the nerves of couples with different tastes in films.
However, this gambling tension quickly subsides after the first few minutes when it is finally clear which film will be played.
I would definitely go to the Sneak Preview again. I find something good in almost every film. My girlfriend, however, was really put off by the last film. Maybe it was our last sneak. 😯

Sneak Preview - Blindate im Kino
Bei uns im Saarland bieten mehrere Kinos die Möglichkeit einer Sneak Preview an. Wir waren jetzt in drei Vorstellungen im UT Kino und daher ist es an der Zeit Bilanz zu ziehen.
Zunächst erkläre ich aber einmal, was die Sneak Preview ist.
Das ist eine Vorstellung im Kino, bei der die Besucher im Vorhinein nicht wissen, welcher Film gezeigt wird. Sie findet einmal die Woche statt. Wie das Wort Preview schon sagt, handelt es sich um eine Vorschau. Das heißt, dass der Film erst in der Zukunft in den Kinos startet. Die Besucher sehen also einen unbekannten Film, den es eigentlich noch gar nicht zu sehen gibt. Spannend!
Außerdem ist die Sneak billiger. Diese Woche haben wir nur 6€ pro Karte bezahlt.
Aber was sind das für Filme, die da laufen?
Bisher war ich in drei Vorstellungen und habe drei gänzlich unterschiedliche Filme gesehen.
Sneak Preview #1
Fangen wir mit dem ersten an. The Outpost. Ein typischer amerikanischer Kriegsfilm mit Orlando Bloom. Es geht um eine sinnlosen Außenposten der amerikanischen Armee in Afghanistan, der von den Taliban überrannt wird. Die amerikanische Soldaten leisten natürlich wieder eine heroische Heldentat nach der anderen.
Kein Film für mich und schon gar nicht für meine Freundin. Typische amerikanische Kriegspropaganda. Aber immerhin Hollywood Qualität. 3/10 Sternen für mich.
Sneak Preview #2
Jedes Genre? JEDES👻!
2021 waren wir dann das zweite mal in der Sneak. Dieses mal hatte es in sich. Nach wenigen Augenblicken wurde uns klar, dass wir es dieses mal mit einem Horrorfilm zu tun hatten. Super! Ein erstklassiger Horrorfilm im rieseigen dunklen Kinosaal, der wegen Corona auch noch kaum besetzt ist! Was kann es besseres geben für zwei Menschen, die dieses Genre gerne meiden, weil sie doch gerne unbeschwert einschlafen möchten?
Titel des Film war MALASAÑA 32. Es geht um eine Familie, die in Madrid in ein verfluchtes Haus einzieht. Psychohorror vom feinsten. Funfact: Wir waren vor wenigen Jahren selbst in Madrid in einem Haus, das genau so aussah und das nicht weit entfernt vom Stadtteil Malasana ist.
Während des Films haben wir mehrmals überlegt, das Kino zu verlassen, aber ich bin der Meinung, dass man einen Horrorfilm zu Ende schauen muss. Denn ein halber Horrorfilm lässt viel zu viel Platz für Interpretation und die ist oft schlimmer als der Film selbst. Falls ihr versteht, was ich meine.
Wir hielten durch. Während einige andere gingen. Verständlich.
Am Ende war der Film doch sehr gut gemacht. Ich würde 6/10 Sternen auf meiner persönlichen Skala geben. Würde ich Horrorfilme mögen, wäre es wohl eine 9/10.
Sneak Preview #3
Diese Woche waren wir dann wieder in der Sneak Preview
Wir waren auf das Härteste gefasst. Ob Kinderfilm, Horrorfilm, oder Billigkomödie. Wir waren auf alles vorbereitet. Doch was dann kam, hatten wir nicht erwartet....

Es wurde der Film "Wie im echten Leben" gezeigt. Spannender Titel oder? Wir wussten schon, dass wir ge...frustet werden, als wir im Vorspann lesen konnten, wer den Film unterstützt hat. Nur französische Filmvereine. Lasst euch den Trailer schmecken.
Und hats geschmeckt? Der Trailer ist im Vergleich zum Film um ein Hundertfaches aufregender.
JETZT KOMMT EIN SPOILER!
Stell dir Undercoverboss auf Arte vor. (nichts gegen Arte, aber Arte hat eine schlechte extrem langweilige Seite!)
Es ging um eine Frau, die als Putzfrau anfing, weil sie nicht gelernt hatte. Sie freundete sich mit anderen Putzfrauen, denen sie verschwieg, das sie in Wirklichkeit eine Schriftstellerin war, die über prekäre Beschäftigungsverhältnisse (also im Endeffekt Putzfrauen) schreiben wollte. Natürlich kam das später raus. Manche waren böse, manche nicht. Leider hat der Teil gefehlt, in dem sie ihren neuen Freunden ihre Wünsche erfüllt hat. Ich fühle mich betrogen....
SPOILER ENDE
Dieser Film war also ein totaler Reinfall. Ich weiß gar nicht warum wir geblieben sind.... Es sind erstaunlich viele Leute geblieben. Wenigstens war das Popcorn lecker. 0/10 Punkten.
Erkenntnis
Die Sneak Preview ist grundsätzlich spannend. Der Nervenkitzel ist groß, weil gar nicht absehbar ist, welcher Film vorgeführt wird. Die Karten sind billiger und die Auswahl des Films fällt weg. Das kann bei Paaren mit unterschiedlichem Filmgeschmack die Nerven schonen.
Diese Spannung des Glücksspiels legt sich nach den ersten Minuten aber schnell, wenn dann endlich klar ist, welcher Film abgespielt wird.
Ich würde auf jeden Fall wieder in die Sneak Preview gehen. Ich finde fast in jedem Film etwas gutes. Meine Freundin ist allerdings vom letzten Film wirklich sehr stark abgeschreckt worden. Vielleicht war es unsere letzte Sneak. 😯
