Wer hat sie nicht schon mal irgendwo gesehen?
Die Rede ist von den Give-Boxen und Bücherschränken der Republik.
Für manche sind sie wahre Schatzkammern, für manche eher Anlass zum Ärgernis.
Und für Messies ein weiterer Grund, die Bude noch weiter zu zu müllen :)

Who has not ever seen them before somewhere? The talk is about the give boxes and public bookcases of the Republic. For some, they are real treasure chambers, for some more a cause for annoyance.
By the way, messies should better stay away :)

Ich persönlich neigte in der Vergangenheit auch schon mal dazu , etwas mitzunehmen was ich nicht wirklich brauchte und es dann irgendwo ungenutzt bei mir herumstand. Immer wenn mich mal die Aufräumwut packte, ging dann vieles auch wieder zurück in die Givebox oder den Bücherschrank.

I personally tended in the past for many times to bring something from the boxes, which I do not really needed, so that it remained somewhere around unused in the basement. Each time when I felt the urge to clean up my flat or the basement, I took a lot of those unused things and brought them back to the givebox or the bookcase.

Interessanterweise variiert die Füllung und der Zustand der Boxen/Schränke je nach Örtlichkeit teilweise sehr stark.

It is an interesting fact, that the filling and the condition of the boxes/cabinets varies very strongly depending on the location of the box.

In “sozial schwächeren” Stadtteilen findet man dort selten etwas Hochwertiges sowie Brauchbares und dort wird in der Regel alles sehr schnell abgegrast. Leider auch von Leuten, welche dort regelmäßig vorbeischauen, um die Sachen selber weiter zu verkaufen. Das verfehlt natürlich den Sinn der Sache vollkommen und ist ärgerlich.
Auch die sogenannten Boxpaten haben dort mehr zu tun, da hier auch oft Müll oder äußerst minderwertige Dinge hinterlassen werden.
Das können sein: extrem abgetragene Schuhe, ungewaschene Unterwäsche, defekte Elektroartikel, gebrauchte Hygieneartikel …

In "socially disadvantaged" parts of the city, there is rarely anything of high-quality or useful to find and the good things are being scoured very quickly. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are regularly looking for things to sell . Of course, that behaviour misses the meaning of the thing completely and is annoying.
Even the so called boxmentors have a lot to do because there is often being left garbage or extremely inferior things.
This can be : extremely well worn shoes, unwashed underwear, faulty electrical articles, hand hygiene articles …

Ich habe dort sogar schon mal eine angebrochene Tube Anal-Slide gefunden, welche ich natürlich sofort mitgenommen und verkonsumiert habe ;) Kleiner analer Jokus am Rande. :) Habe ich natürlich nicht. So etwas gehört jedenfalls nicht dorthin. Und pornographisches Material hat dort auch nichts verloren, da die Boxen ja auch für Kids zugänglich sind.
Auch soll es an solchen Orten schon zu Schlägereien und lautstarken Auseinandersetzungen um die besten Stücke gekommen sein. So was würde mich als Anwohner auf jeden Fall erheblich stören.

One time I even found an opened tube anal slide, which of course I used immediately ;) Just joking, of course I did not :) Unfortunately there are things to be found, which also shouldnt’t be there. And pornographic material has also no business there, because the boxes are even easily accessible for kids.
Also fights and loud disputes over the best pieces should have taken place, which must be quite disturbing for the neighbours.

Auf jeden Fall sind solche Boxen meiner Meinung nach eine sinnvolle Sache, auch was den Gesichtspunkt der Nachhaltigkeit betrifft. Werden so doch Sachen, welche ja auch Ressourcen und Energie beim Produktionsprozess in Anspruch genommen haben, erneut ihrem Zweck zugeführt, anstatt vernichtet zu werden. Manchmal ergibt sich vor Ort auch ein interessantes Gespräch mit anderen Besuchern bzw. Leuten die dort neue Sachen hinbringen.

Fazit! Es müsste mehr davon geben !

In any case, such boxes in my opinion is a great thing, even in the face of sustainability concerns, because things which took a lot resources and energy in the production process, are being used again for their original purpose, rather than to be destroyed.
And sometimes, one can have interesting conversations with other visitors or people who bring new things there.

Conclusion! There had to be more of these giveboxes and public bookcases!
